Overview

The emphasis for business continuity today is on the organization’s critical business processes that need to be recovered in the event of a disaster for the survival of the organization. Information technology is, therefore, only one of the critical dependencies.

Business continuity plans (BCP) are no longer a luxury, but an essential element of an organization’s risk management programme.

Certified BCP implementer covers the following areas:

  • Business resumption planning: The operation's piece of business continuity planning.
  • Disaster recovery planning: The technological aspect of business continuity planning; the advance planning and preparations necessary to minimize loss and ensure continuity of the critical business functions of an organization in the event of disaster.
  • Crisis management: The overall coordination of an organization’s response to a crisis in an effective, timely manner, with the goal of avoiding or minimizing damage to the organization’s profitability, reputation or ability to operate.
Objectives of BCP
The basic objective of business continuity process is to embrace risk, emergency and recovery planning to manage a crisis or disaster event and have a hope of survival.
